I really wanted to love this laptop. Ryzen 6000 series performance (with amazing integrated RDNA2) and a modest GPU for when you need the extra power. All in a 13″ package. I’d say it’s unrivaled by any other model in its form factor + price class.
Unfortunately, this is the most buggy laptop I’ve ever owned, and I’ve used over a dozen during my career. There have been 5 ‘deal-breaker’ issues for me that make me wish I chose something different:
-SLEEP ISSUE: Until 9/27/22 with the release of Bios 323, sleep was unusable. The laptop wouldn’t be able to wake, requiring you to hard reboot. I know Windows modern standby sucks and I tend to use hibernate anyways, but it’s really not acceptable. This is a commonly reported issue across forums for this specific laptop.
-HARDWARE GPU CRASHES: During video playback, the graphics glitch out to black, or to pink boxes. It lasts several seconds until the display driver reboots. Sometimes the screen stays artifacted and the fans ramp to 100% until you hard reboot. Commonly happens when playing AV1 codec on any browser (Firefox, Chromium), and programs like VLC. This is a commonly reported issue across forums for this entire series of processor (Ryzen 6xxx, across multiple brands). This is one of my biggest issues with this laptop, it happens around once an hour if you’re watching videos.
-KEYBOARD LAG: Every once in a while after keyboard inactivity, there’s a short period when you resume typing and the keystrokes aren’t registered. It requires a full system restart to fix, and it occurs several times a day. This is a commonly reported issue across forums for this specific laptop. It seems to be driver related (ForteMedia, Bluetooth, AMD Chipset) and reappeared for me after Windows 2H22 update.
-AUDIO CRACKLING: When running the laptop in the ‘Silent’ battery power profile, the audio crackles – on speakers, wired headphones, or bluetooth. Setting the laptop to ‘Performance’ power profile gets rid of the crackling. This is a commonly reported issue across forums for all ASUS ROG laptops.
-WARRANTY: I checked with ASUS Support to do some troubleshooting and potentially get these issues fixed under warranty. Unfortunately I found out that because I bought this laptop via Best Buy, all RMA processes are through GeekSquad. If these are truly hardware or driver issues, I know that GeekSquad won’t be able to troubleshoot anything and the turnaround time will be several months, at minimum. The amount of time I’ll be without a laptop makes it very difficult to send in.
Outside of these experiences, some general thoughts on the laptop:
-Solid form factor & good build quality. Performance is fantastic. Thermals are manageable, even under load, for its size.
-Keyboard (other than typing lag) and track pad feel good. Keyboard is NOT legible unless the backlight is on.
-ASUS’ choice to only allow full charging speed with the original OEM charger is awful. I have plenty of other high quality 100w chargers from other brands, but they’re locked to 65w charging. Even the ASUS-branded dock with 100w PD does not charge at full speed on this laptop. Because of this, I have to carry the ASUS charging brick wherever I go.
-Be sure you’re aware of the panel performance on this laptop; it has significant ghosting and slow response times. Not an issue for me.

Closest to my ideal laptop: I am an architect that needs good 3D modeling performance, but I travel a decent amount.
Biggest complaint is that the machine will only perform at its maximum using the included Asus USB-C charger, I would give this machine 5 stars if it were not for this dumb, greedy, and inconvenient anti-consumer practice–I should be able to use a higher wattage adapter thay has ports for all my devices.
The machine also works best with its back propped up higher, so I think they would rework the hinge a bit like the G14 to lift the bottom of the machine a bit higher in normal laptop mode.
The screen should just be a 2K option like the 2022 G14, which also has a higher color gamut–best worlds of decent PPI and battery life. Screen gets really bright, but it doesnt get nearly as dim as other laptops. Would be nice to get rid of the larger chin at the bottom and go with a 3:2 aspect ratio.
Pen support is decent with MPP 2.0 with a Bamboo Ink Plus, but nowhere near as good as the lastest Surface products (haptic feedback is an obvious no go). Surface pen and Raphael 530c performance were disappointing compared to the Bamboo (at least in tilt and pressure sensitivity).
Overall design of the laptop is awesome with very good build quality. The finish however picks up fingerprints easily. It’s also not completely symmetrical. A microSD card would be a great addition, and they could add it to the left side to make the laptop even.
AMD doesnt support Thunderbolt, so docks are hit or miss, which is unfortunate.
Keyboard feels great, so does the touchpad, but it would be ideal if the keyboard got pushed up further so the trackpad could get bigger.
Mediatek wifi/bluetooth card is much improved but still not stable when compared to Intel or Killer. My Logitech bluetooth keyboard gets dropped, something that hasn’t happened in my last two laptops, and the machine needs to be restarted more often than I like to reconnect.
The XG Mobile port being covered by an easily lost rubber or silicone is annoying, but I think Asus completely misjudged the desire and need for the XG Mobile being, well, mobile. It’s still infinitely easier to travel to with a laptop thats bigger and more powerful. The XG Mobile should be a Thunderbolt GPU Enclosure competitor that gets put in the ROG laptops and can take a full GPU. It’s already super difficult to find the XG mobile, so it would streamline their products, help with inventory and supply issues, and also makes it more accessible and desirable to more consumers.
Overall though, a great machine, and I hope Asus continues to refine future models.

This is a great laptop; however, you have to have the right expectations. It has a ton of power for the very small form factor. Therefore, you should expect it to be hot and noisy at times. That said, if you adjust the power settings, it performs favorably when on battery and as expected when on AC power.
The I/O is good, the keyboard is great, the screen is very nice, and the speakers aren’t bad at all. Get yourself a decent sleeve for this laptop and it should be able to handle everything you throw at it while being extremely portably. Being able to run most games at reasonable settings and still get a decent experience is a plus as well.
Armory Crate has a host of settings that allow you to tune the laptop to your liking. Sure, there is a minor amount of bloatware but that is easily removable. After doing those two things and running all of the Windows 11 updates, the machine is ready to go.
My only real “complaint” is that the finish on this laptop attracts a ton of fingerprints. Not a big deal, but something worth noting.
A note regarding battery life: Don’t go into this 2-in-1 expecting amazing battery life if you are running it like a gaming laptop – you won’t be happy. Just because is has a form factor that is typical of laptops with long lasting batteries doesn’t mean you will have the same experience. If you set it up correctly and use it correctly, the battery life will be very good.
All in all, I am quite happy with this purchase!

I picked up the 2022 version after owning the 2021 version, and I can say that the screen is noticeably brighter, WiFi 6E is noticeably more efficient than WiFi 6 (when used with a WiFi 6E router, of course), and the Ryzen 6000 series is snappier and more battery efficient than the Ryzen 5000. I will have to get used to Windows 11, however, since this comes preloaded on the 2022 machine. I will update when I have a chance to compare AAA gaming performance!

No doubt this is the most powerful 13.3 laptop on the market. Bought it to replace my aged Razer blade 15 2018. Few things to mention, the quality control might not be perfect. This is my second unit. The touchpad of the first one is loose so it makes clicking noise. I also got blue screen when watching videos (youtube or local files) via amd iGPU. Thought it was a driver issue, but the second unit shows no such issue right out of the box. So be sure to check these two issues after delivery.
The silence mode is my favorite mode. When it is on power, the CPU temp is around 58C when just browsing websites. The fan noise is barely noticeable. When it is on battery, it is dead quiet. CPU temp is around 45C.
Gaming is capable. With little OC for GPU, I can get 5200 for 3Dmark Time Spy.
The screen is bright and contrasty. Very impressed with the vivid colors.
My biggest complain is no SD card reader. Very inconvenient to transfer photos and videos from my camera.
Both USB C can supply full power while charging. Just one minor issue, the CUP will be throttled to 800 NHZ when the charging level is under 40%. The simple solution is put the computer to Silence mode which magically unlocks the CPU speed. It is definitely a driver related issue. Hope ASUS will look into that. It is not big deal for most users I guess since only taking 15 mins charging to 40%.
Overall, it is a great product. Just buy it! I have no regret after one month of use.
