So far, I’m loving this laptop. It is a beast. And it is very well built. Im looking forward to putting a few games on it, it can run AAA games. I’m primarialy using it in the home office for now, and on the road for weddings and other gigs. As a sound engineer and DJ, this eaaily handles these types of software. Ive paired it with the Pioneer DJ-FLX6, with the Presonus StudioLive32S. It easily runs Rekordbox and StudioOne 5 Pro. Windows 11 is great but takes a little getting used to. I did a lot of research before picking an XPS and am very happy with it. Super-clean, pro feel, lots of power. 3 usb-c, one is powered. It comes with an adapter for a single HDMI monitor, but will be getting a docking station next.

The Dell – XPS 15 15.6″ FHD+ Laptop – 12th Gen Intel Core I7-16GB Memory-NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti-512GB SSD in silver is mostly a dream come true. The unit is wrapped within white tissue paper and housed in its own black box with a slight magnetized closure-very impressive, especially if this would be a gift for the new grad entering college or their real life after college.
First impressions, a sleek, low profile notebook that is light-weight and even a weakling should be able to carry it around without too much trouble. I am a mom so I also think that the outside finish in matte silver while not only attractive to all ages and genders, acts as a deterrent to messy fingerprints that could drive someone crazy considering how much this will be manhandled during use. The inside trim is more like a dark charcoal gray that surrounds the mouse or touch pad with black around the keyboard.
So, as I have stated with other devices, I am a 63 year old female CPA that has experience eye fatigue and this machine has many attributes that helps to alleviate that condition. First, these keys are normal-sized and easy to stroke while typing. Second, the keyboard is back lit, yeah!! That makes it so easy to see in dark light situations or to use it in with the room’s lights off, for whatever reasons-power outage? One of the cons is that there is not a dedicated 10 key, although this has plenty of room to install one if the designers had wished to. The keyboard literally takes up about 50 % of the surface and I think that there is so much packed in the bottom half that maybe there is no room for the separate 10 key. However, as a previously mentioned CPA, I really like my 10 keys in all applications. This is a SSD and I am happy to report that this machine is so silent while running, if you misplaced it for any reason you certainly could not hear it, even up close.
Just to make sure, this is not a touch screen, you must use the touch pad, or a tablet that you can rotate the screen to view like a book. It does come loaded with Window 11 and before receiving this unit, I have never worked with Windows 11. Therefore, I not only have a learning curve with the machine, but also the operating system. I want to say that the set up was easy peasy with the Dell app and there is also a Get Started app loaded on the unit that can take you through a tutorial of items and apps that come loaded.
One of the thing that I love the most is the screen-there is virtually no bezel, lovely to view movies, work, and whatever you wish to use this for. I love, love, love how easy on my eyes the viewing is-I cannot state this enough. The display’s picture has vision support that appears effortless for bright and sharp colors that pop, the dark’s even have much depth and are easily appreciated. The unit has several USB ports, the charging unit is plugged into one, there is a full sized SD card reader, but I do not believe that there is a port for HDMI, Ethernet, or USB A.
It is fast and dependable while opening up numerous tabs to do multiple things at a time, it is silent for very long periods at a time, there is good battery life, the display is supremely crystal clear, and it is made of high quality materials that will add to your viewing and usage pleasure, but it is quite pricey and not what I would consider in the tech throw away culture. I am not deducting a star because of the missing 10 key and I usually do that, but the display, in my mind, makes up for that

This laptop had a vertical line on screen when booted for the first time out of box. Seems like Dell XPS has quality control issues. Had to return it.

Initially looking at the specs and features, one can assume this is a high-end laptop. It has 16GB RAM, but everything else screams advanced gaming, power, efficient and great for doing multiple things at once. This is will exceed expectations for the everyday user, not an advanced gamer.
I love pushing my devices to the edge. I usually get to 10 new tabs open before I start noticing some lag, but I’m happy to say this exceeded that in terms of performance.
I’m still giving this a 5/5 in terms of performance, but the storage capacity can be a little bigger. I personally don’t need more than the 512GB, but some gamers or people using this for web development might need more space. I think the price is fair based on that.
In terms of features, I’d say it’s on par with other 15in laptops. Based on the size, I’m surprised they didn’t include an additional USB or try for something other than a C port. I’m a bit bummed there’s no HDMI plug, but you can’t get win them all.
Battery efficiency. Like previous Dell models, you can really tailor the laptop to fit your power/battery needs. If you don’t require a ton of processing power, you can adjust that to favor battery performance. If you’re doing something needing processing power, you can adjust the setting and it takes from the battery. I found a nice median that favors a slightly dimmer screen so I can keep processing power high.
    Pros:
    Fast!
    Screen quality
    Modern design and feel
    Great feeling in hands
    Comfy keyboard
    Quick charge
    Great battery
    15.6″ FHD+ Display
    Core i7
    16GB system
    NVIDIA RTX 3050 Ti Graphics
    WIFI 6 capable
    Good sound for a laptop!
    USB-C to USB-A v3.0 & HDMI v2.0 adapter
    HD
    Cons:
No DVD drive, but who needs that in the age of streaming
    No 4k
Storage can be a little higher
    Only 3 USB Ports
    No HDMI
    Overall:
I’ll be taking this device on all my vacations. It’s a large screen, comfy to use keyboard and extremely reliable. I’m really enjoying this laptop and highly recommend it.

The Dell – XPS 15 has great packaging. The box holds everything securely for shipping. Setup is a breeze with your Microsoft login. I had to reboot 3 times installing updates (allow about an hour) and then it was off and running.
The case is ultra-thin and a little hard to open; it helps to have fingernails. Facial recognition works well or the power button can also read fingerprints. The LED screen is beautiful with 1920×1200 resolution (Full HD) and 15.6”.
There are only 2 complaints about this laptop. The first is a big one for me. Dell includes a Dongle with a USB-A port and HDMI instead of building them into the laptop. I use multiple USB-A devices so I have to use a multi-port adapter with this laptop. More stuff to carry when traveling. The included Dongle is small and could easily be lost.
    Ports
1 USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C™ (with DisplayPort and PowerDelivery)
    2 Thunderbolt™ 4 (USB Type-C™) with DisplayPort and PowerDelivery
    1 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack
    Slots
    1 SD-card slot
    Dongle
    USB-A
    HDMI
My other issue is with the 720p webcom. Resolution is very low and needs to be improved as it lags. This is not as big an issue for me as I have a webcam that is much better.
The processor is an Intel 12th Gen i7 with 14 cores and is very fast. With 16GB of RAM this laptop multi-tasks nicely. The 512GB SSD can be upgraded if needed.
I like the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3035 Ti graphics card with 4000 MB dedicated memory. It handled casual gaming okay. If you are playing graphics intense games (like Call to Duty series) you will need a gaming system.
The speakers are nice and have good range. It would be nice if they would go louder. Dell installed a big touchpad in this model which would have been better served by making the backlit keyboard bigger.
Battery life is an impressive 9+ hours. Disconnected from wi-fi, it almost lasted 12 hours. It does run hot when running for hours.
Amazon Alexa is built in and allows voice assist.
All in all this is an impressive computer. Built for speed and multi-tasking it won’t be obsolete for years. Very impressed and I rate it a 4.5 stars.
