I wasn’t expecting too much from this soundbar (despite the relatively high price), but to be honest I pretty impressed. I leaned toward the Samsung because I heard that it could be detected by our recent Samsung S90C upgrade and paired to work with that TV’s built-in speakers (which aren’t great, but that is par for the course with modern flat screens). I’m not sure if the TV speakers add anything, but they don’t really need to because the soundbar is so powerful. Because both devices are Samsung, the HDMI ARC connection worked immediately and flawlessly. And the sound is just really awesome – even at low volumes dialog is clear, bass can be felt, etc. I don’t know if the ATMOS speakers are doing anything. Rear surround speakers (which connect by wires to this little rear control box, which itself connects wirelessly to the primary soundbar) are also very solid with clear sound. Main complaint I had was with the wire length for the rear speakers – it was a little too short and uses a proprietary connector on one end. I’m going to have to solder on an extension on the split bare wires that go into the speaker. But with that smallest complaint, honestly, I came away pretty impressed.

Samsung does it again. I was in the market for a new sound system. I was looking for something innovative and that worked well with my television. Being that my television is from Samsung, I looked into the Samsung home surround sound systems. What I like the most of this unit is the rear speakers. I bought some speaker stands from amazon to have them raised. The Bluetooth technology used for the rear speakers is genius. I’ve had a system before and had to run wires all over my living room to have the rear speakers connected. This one just needs the control unit to pair with the main speaker and that’s it. The setup is pretty quick and easy right out of the box. The wires are pretty self-explanatory as far as where they go. The only issue I had was the connection sync connection between the rear speakers to the main console. But thru several tries I was able to make the connections. Paired up with my Samsung television, the sound is incredible. It makes a huge difference. I like the Q-symphony feature that uses the sound from the television and the surround sound in sync. I would definitely recommend this product.

We are very happy with our Samsung HW-Q85OD 7.1.2 Channel Q Series Soundbar system which replaced our Sony Surround sound system that went out due to a power outage. We are happier yet with our Geek Squad Technician – Double Agent/ Travis Custer; he was nothing short of perfection! His knowledge, personality and willingness to patiently answer all of our questions was DEFINITELY over the top customer service! He confirmed his window time arrival the day prior (between 8:00 am & 12:00 pm for day of delivery), arrived within the first hour of window period and was warm, courteous and respectful. He schooled us on the difference between a surround sound system and soundbar system and moved our soundbar above for better sound performance. The first Geek Squad tech (who initially did the install) was in a hurry, gave us misinformation which prompted us to have Geek Squad do a re-install. Travis Custer, you are amazing! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You are the reason for the 5 stars! 🙂

Firstly the unit came in an open box from a major freight company and I was worried parts would be missing or damaged but luckily the box was just damaged and open and all components were in tact. I’ve been an avid soundbar user for about ten years trying out many different configurations with movies or my playlist. As Dolby Atmos becomes more available in media (also called spatial sound) it’s cool to see how the newer speakers perform this function. The Atmos sound is vertical meaning upwards firing speakers where you should hear rain coming down or a lighting strike etc. With a soundbar the channels are separated however this is very hard to do because the speakers are all together in the actual soundbar. Honestly I have not heard a good representation of Atmos on one speaker but Samsung did a great job on this. The speaker is beautiful and looks awesome on the stand. The sound is crisp and clear in both movies and on music streaming apps etc. The sub performs flawlessly and rattles the floor and I love it. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because the rear channels have to have speaker wire to the connecting box which is ok because it’s close HOWEVER I don’t want any speaker wire for a soundbar type system and I just wonder why the sub connects wirelessly but the surrounds need speaker wire. Overall this system is awesome and provides a movie theater experience and I would recommend to anyone who is on the fence.
